Health and tech innovations take spotlight at Manila forum

Medical technology companies from Israel gathered with Filipino healthcare stakeholders in Manila to showcase solutions aimed at improving infection control, wound management, and hospital efficiency. The forum served as a platform to introduce practical innovations while opening doors for partnerships in the Philippines’ growing healthcare sector.

The event was organized through the Israel Economic Mission to the Philippines in cooperation with the Embassy of Israel in Manila. For newly appointed Ambassador H.E. Dana Kursh—who has only been in her post for about two months—the forum was an opportunity to highlight how collaboration in science and technology can create meaningful impact.

“Our focus here is not just about presenting products but about sharing solutions that respond to real needs in hospitals and communities,” the ambassador said. She emphasized that healthcare cooperation can become a bridge for innovation, noting that Israel has developed a strong healthtech ecosystem over the years.

Wound care and infection control

Among the featured companies was MedCu Technologies, developer of copper-based wound dressings. Already cleared by the US FDA and CE in Europe, the dressing harnesses copper’s natural antimicrobial properties while promoting faster healing. With more than 100,000 patients worldwide already treated with no reported adverse reactions, MedCu’s technology positions copper as a potential alternative to silver, which has long dominated advanced dressings.

Concept for Pharmacy Ltd. also presented its specialized compounding and infection control solutions, including colored chloroxidizers designed to improve safety in hospital disinfection, and powerful agents for hard-to-heal wounds. The company stressed how precision medicine and tailored pharmaceutical preparations can address shortages and unique patient needs.

Sustainability in healthcare operations

Envomed drew strong interest with its on-site biomedical waste treatment system. Using liquid-phase technology, the system sterilizes hazardous waste until it becomes safe, odorless, recyclable, and compliant with environmental standards. By eliminating the need for off-site transport, Envomed claims hospitals can reduce carbon emissions by 95 percent and cut disposal costs in half.

Tuttnauer, a global player in sterilization equipment, showcased its autoclaves and washer-disinfectors used across medical, dental, veterinary, and laboratory settings. With robotic-assisted manufacturing and remote monitoring features, its systems aim to streamline hospital operations while ensuring reliability in sterilization.

A platform for partnerships

Ambassador Kursh underscored that the Philippines is a priority partner for expanding healthcare cooperation. “I believe there is great potential to build partnerships here that can make a difference, both for Filipino patients and for the wider health sector,” she said.

By bringing together companies and local stakeholders, the forum demonstrated how healthtech can offer not just new tools, but also collaborative pathways for adoption and scaling.

From infection control and wound care to waste management and hospital efficiency, the solutions presented carry the potential to improve outcomes across the healthcare chain. It also underscores how innovation, when connected to the right partnerships, can respond to the evolving needs of the Philippine healthcare system.
